Meet the artist

My name is Jinthe, and I’ve been passionate about drawing for as long as I can remember—ever since I could pick up a pencil. My journey began with sketching horses throughout my childhood, evolving over time to include anime, portraits, cute animals, and much more. Looking at my work, it’s clear that I enjoy expanding my creativity. While I love working in various styles, I have chosen to primarily focus on drawing characters and people.

As a child, I always dreamt of going to art school. Everyone around me praised my creative abilities, especially my drawing skills. It only seemed natural to attend one of the most well-known art schools in the Netherlands. I studied Visual Design with a specialization in animation because I was passionate about creating my own animation series one day. You can still watch a couple of animation projects I uploaded to my YouTube channel.

One thing that sets me apart from other artists is my unique style. Even though I work across many different subjects, you can always tell it's my work. The pieces I created during art school, in particular, carry my distinctive touch—whether it's silly characters, cute bows, or magical sound effects.

Throughout my life, I’ve always been the "art kid." While attending art school was educational, I sometimes felt like I lost that spark of creativity. Being surrounded by so many talented artists was intimidating, and there was always someone who seemed "better" than me. At the same time, it was comforting to be in a community where everyone shared the same passion. After I graduated, focusing on developing my own style and creating what I truly love helped me grow as an artist.

Given my wide range of interests, I often find it challenging to stick to a single style. This led me to create a drawing series, which I share on my YouTube channel (@jinthescreations) and other social platforms. The series, called Drawing Anything You Want, features artwork based on recommendations from my followers, primarily through TikTok, as well as from complete strangers. This project has not only helped me connect with supportive people but has also pushed me to develop my skills by tackling a variety of subjects.

In the meantime, I’ve had the opportunity to take on a few art commissions, which have helped me build confidence in my work. After receiving encouragement from so many people, I finally found the courage to start selling my art. I used to worry that my work wouldn’t be good enough, but as I developed my skills and gradually grew my community, I felt ready to share my art with the world.

My work

I create all of my illustrations on my iPad using the Procreate app and Nomad Sculpt for my 3D designs. I love exploring different styles and themes in my art, but I’ve chosen to primarily focus on anime for my business. It resonates most with my followers, and my most popular pieces on social media have been anime-inspired. Interestingly, I didn’t really get into anime until recently. The first series I watched and truly enjoyed was Spy X Family in 2021. From there, I quickly fell in love with the genre and started watching other popular shows like My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen. However, outside of anime, I still really enjoy drawing in other styles, which I showcase in my gallery and shop.

Some people online believe that anime art isn’t “real” art, which I find a bit strange—what even defines “real” art? Anime covers a wide range of styles, and many pieces inspired by popular anime series or characters fall under a different style called semi-realism. This is a style I work in often as well, as it offers a perfect balance between anime and realism. While traditional anime uses a coloring technique called “cel shading,” semi-realism uses softer coloring and different proportions, giving it a more lifelike feel.
